MOSCOW, Jun 14 (PRIME) – A decision on the use of tablets running on Russian operating system Avrora, earlier known as Sailfish, in an October 2020 census could be made by September, Mikhail Oseyevsky, head of the system’s developer, state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom, told reporters on Friday.
“We’re discussing exploitation of these solutions to ensure communications between state employees with the government,” Oseyevsky said.
“If the decision is supported, we’ll be the only contractors and will be responsible for the whole infrastructure: the devices and software. We’re following the path of comprehensive solutions, ‘turn-key’ ones and see a huge demand from the government and big companies.”
Head of the Federal State Statistics Service Pavel Malkov said earlier that officials of the all-Russian population census will use tablets and engage the Internet via the website of state services.
